In March 2006 John Bertrand and Keith Taylor founded The Sail Fast Project, committing to support several Olympic contenders with fund-raising, sponsorship, communications and off-the-water mentoring. Their commitment is through the current Olympic quadrennium. This work is for the most part voluntary. Bertrand regards this as a small way to repay his debt of gratitude to those individuals who helped him when he was campaigning for the Olympics. The Sail Fast Project should not be confused with the online sailing clothing company SailFast.
The Sail Fast Project is currently working with the following teams:
Distinct from US Sailing and the US Sailing Olympic Committee involvement, The Sail Fast Project concentrates on the areas that those bodies largely delegate to individual sailors - ie, fund-raising, sponsorship, team communications and off-the-water mentoring.
