New Zealander Keith Taylor worked in the US from 1966 through 2004. He now lives and works in Auckland, NZ. He was editor of SAIL, the world’s largest sailing magazine from 1974 to 1988. As Director of Communications for Team BRace, Taylor draws on the experience of a career that encompasses daily newspaper reporting, magazine editing and consulting, plus extensive public relations work in sailing.
After leaving
SAIL, he founded Taylor Associates which specializes in
public relations, communications, and
promotion, primarily
in the marine field. Taylor brings to his public relations
work years of close contact with sailing writers, photographers
and editors around the world. He has broad contacts in the
global sailing community, and a track record of coverage
of major
international events like the America’s Cup, Louis
Vuitton Cup, The Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race and The
Race of the Millennium.
Taylor has a
daily newspaperman’s deadline sense and
feel for a story, and a magazine editor’s grasp for
graphic opportunities. He brings excellent writing skills
and the ability to work closely with sponsors, sailors, media
and organizers to assist with public relations, communications
and event support issues.
In 2002-03, Taylor handled public relations for Team Dennis
Conner’s Stars & Stripes campaign for the America’s
Cup in New Zealand and subsequently wrote, edited and produced
Conner’s 256-page illustrated coffee-table book about
the Cup bid.
